FAQ’s
We offer a personal sizing assessment, and fitting process, for BONT cycling shoes. BONT shoes are made to fit cyclists’ feet. This is not true of the bulk of cycling shoes. For instance, the average cycling shoe width is approximately 90mm wide, with the average cycling foot width around 105mm. This presents a 15% compression of the metatarsals and can lead to neural impingement and discomfort (hot foot syndrome). BONT makes various levels of cycling shoes, in various lengths, widths, and even custom designs to suit ANY foot type. These range from entry level versions up to premium highest quality designs involving Kangaroo leather and sport specific components.
A Personal Sizing Assessment allows us to order a shoe for you that is based on what your feet require, rather than what is available on the floor in stock for immediate sale. We have around 5 years’ experience fitting shoes to cyclists’ feet, and thus can understand how not only length and width of the individual’s feet can affect the shoe size, but also other atypical features, such as arch height, toe patterns, bunions, etc. This, combined with the fact the foot swells in high temperatures and when exercising for long periods of time, means you need a multifaceted approach to shoe fitting through thorough assessment.
We require you in person to measure the feet characteristics and your existing set of cycling shoes. We take a foot sizing using a Branock device and qualitative assessment of your foot anatomy/structure before recommending the shoe sizing correct for you. This has nothing to do with stock availability, rather is a completely personalised approach to fitting. The shoes are then supplied based on your sizing and your preferences for model, colour, etc.We can also fit the cleats (requires new cleats) to your new shoes, replicating your existing foot-shoe-cleat interface exactly. We do this via a fitting jig and a subjective assessment whilst riding our stationary bike at our facility.
The Personal Sizing Assessment can take around 15 minutes. The shoes are then either provided if in stock, or ordered to suit.If the shoes are in stock, they are dispatched and arrive within 3 business days, or are otherwise made to order from BONT directly. The fitting process of the cleats can take around 30 minutes to correctly adjust, this process is an optional service and costs $50.
We try to beat Recommended Retail Prices by 10% and are competitive with online sale prices. The process of measurement and ordering ensures that your comfort and selection of shoes is optimal, which is our priority, rather than seeking to heavily reduce the costing of shoes.
