Women’s Cycling Perth (WCP) is a collective of individuals who train together to improve health, fitness, and confidence in a fun and friendly social environment. WCP trains together most Wednesday mornings in Kings Park, 6am, from Wadjuk Carpark. Beyond training alone WCP opens opportunities for women to meet other like-minded individuals and explore the virtues of cycling.

FAQ’s

I’m not sure if I’m good enough. How will I know?

Every ability is welcome, no matter where you are in your riding journey.

Sessions focus on individual interval efforts for cardio fitness, along with occasional technical skills work in a controlled space (such as a carpark area).

Intervals are completed at your own pace. Coaches Sabine and Marion circulate throughout the session, providing technique feedback and encouragement so you can get the most out of your effort.

Some riders join in sneakers and a t-shirt and later move into racing. Others already train at a high level and use the sessions for structured fitness work. There is always something to work on - whether that’s confidence, strength, efficiency, or simply enjoying a solid workout in good company.

I ride a hybrid, MTB or commuter bike. Can I still join?

Yes.

You can ride any bike provided it is in safe, working condition. The type of bike does not matter - comfort and safety do.

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. There is no expectation around cycling kit.

I’m worried I’ll get dropped. What pace do you ride?

You won’t be dropped.

Sessions involve repeated efforts on the same roads within Kings Park. Riders complete intervals individually, often “chasing” up the road or holding their own pace.

We regroup at 7:00am before the final effort and then ride together to coffee.

No one will get left behind, and if it happens somehow by accident, just give Sabine a buzz to make sure everyone finds the much-anticipated coffee shop on time.

Where do you meet and how long is the session?

We meet at 6:00am at the top of Wadjuk Carpark (behind Fraser’s Restaurant), in the bus lane near the Acacia toilet block.

Have a look at our Strava session details here.

Please arrive by 5:55am for a prompt start.

Sessions finish at approximately 7:10am, with coffee from around 7:15am.

Where do you ride?

The group remains within Kings Park for the entire session, using the main roads in the park. The exact route is outlined during the morning briefing.

What if it rains?

Each Tuesday, we confirm via social media whether Wednesday’s session will proceed. If weather conditions are unsafe (heavy rain or strong winds), the session will not run.

What should I bring?

• A safe, working bike
• Front and rear lights (when required)
• Water bottle
• Basic repair kit (recommended)
• Time for coffee
