Swimming Coaching

Swimming Coaching

Develop the awareness to control your technique in the water.

Exercise Institute’s private one-on-one swimming coaching is suitable for swimmers of all abilities, from people developing confidence and efficiency through to athletes preparing for high-level competition.

Because swimmers cannot easily see their own technique, our specialist coaches help you understand what an effective stroke should feel like, recognise changes in your form and build the ability to adjust your technique independently.

Why private swimming coaching matters.

Technique Awareness

Learn to read your own stroke.

Develop a clearer understanding of how your stroke feels and identify the physical cues that indicate whether your technique is efficient, controlled and appropriate for the effort.

Immediate Feedback

Make changes lap by lap.

Work closely with a specialist swimming coach who can observe your movement from poolside and provide practical feedback throughout the session.

Long-Term Control

Become less dependent on correction.

The goal is not only to fix a stroke issue during one session, but to give you the knowledge and indicators needed to monitor and control your own technique over time.

Our Coaching Approach

Technique development built around understanding and control.

Efficient swimming is not simply about identifying a technical fault and applying a permanent correction. The movement and control required from your stroke can change with speed, distance, fatigue and the swimming environment.

Exercise Institute focuses on helping you connect your mechanics with the outcome you are trying to create, so you can recognise what your stroke needs and adjust it accordingly.

  • One-on-one feedback from a specialist swimming coach.
  • Practical technique indicators you can recognise in the water.
  • Tailored drills and progressions for use between sessions.
  • Coaching suitable for recreational and competitive swimmers.

Private coaching options.

60 Minutes

Private Technical Development.

Private technical-development sessions are completed one-on-one and can be purchased as a single session or in a block of four or ten sessions.

Sessions may be held at Bold Park Aquatic or Christ Church Grammar School, depending on lane availability.

Each session includes a copy of your session notes, along with tailored progressions and drills to practise independently.

  • Single session $135
  • Four-session block $450
  • Ten-session block $950
90 Minutes

Underwater Video Analysis.

The underwater-video-analysis session begins with filming from above and below the water before you and your coach review and break down the footage together on the pool deck.

Filming and review generally take 30–45 minutes. The remaining session time is used in the water to develop your new technique and establish personalised technique indicators.

After the session, you will receive a technical-analysis video including on-screen annotations and a voice-over guide.

  • Standalone 90-minute session $295
  • Add-on to a 60-minute session +$160

The video-analysis add-on extends a 60-minute private session to 90 minutes.

All swimming-coaching purchases have a 12-month expiry period.

What private coaching looks like.

Observe

Assess your current stroke.

Your coach observes your swimming from poolside, identifying how your stroke mechanics change across laps, efforts and technical tasks.

Develop

Practise new technique indicators.

Feedback is applied immediately through targeted progressions, drills and repeated swimming so you can begin linking the desired movement with a clear physical sensation.

Apply

Continue the work independently.

After the session, use your tailored notes, drills and technique indicators to practise and explore the changes between coaching appointments.
