Running Coaching

Running Coaching

Personalised running coaching built around your goals.

Exercise Institute’s running coaching gives you a structured, individualised program designed around your current fitness, training history, lifestyle, goals and long-term development.

This is not a generic session plan. It is a client-coach process built to help you train with purpose, progress safely and understand exactly why each session matters.

Why this matters.

Individualised

Built for you.

Your program is tailored to your capabilities, needs, fitness level and goals, making every training block specific to your development.

Science-Led

Better training zones.

We prefer to induct coached athletes with a VO2max test so your training zones are based on objective data, not guesswork from pace or heart rate alone.

Long-Term

Progress that lasts.

Our coaching system blends experience, education and current scientific practice to help you adapt quickly, safely and sustainably.

Coaching Process

A shared client-coach journey.

We believe strong coaching starts with rapport, communication and a clear understanding of the athlete. Your coach works with you to build a program that reflects your goals, training response and available time.

No sessions are included in the coaching process. This is a tailored personalised program for an individual to complete independently, with coaching direction guiding the work.

  • Personalised programming matched to your fitness and goals.
  • Coach guidance built around long-term development.
  • Optional testing pathway to accurately define training zones.

FAQs.

FAQ One

Why choose our coaching system?

Because your training should be structured, specific and grounded in expertise.

Our coaching system uses a blend of extensive industry experience and knowledge of the latest scientific trends to help you adapt quickly and safely to training.

The goal is not just to give you more running. It is to create better training decisions, clearer progression and a more informed athlete-coach relationship.

FAQ Two

What does our coaching look like?

It is a shared process between athlete and coach.

We are big believers in developing rapport with our clients and facilitating a shared client-coach journey so both parties are informed of each other’s needs.

We prefer to induct coached athletes with a metabolic test, such as a VO2max test, to accurately outline training zones. Training zones based on heart rate or pace alone can be less accurate than zones informed by objective testing.

FAQ Three

How fit do I need to be?

You do not need to be elite to benefit from coaching.

Our coaching process is about making you better. You can be at any fitness level and still benefit from a structured, individualised approach.

We tailor training to suit you, whether your goal is general fitness, better consistency, event preparation or higher performance.

FAQ Four

What equipment do I need?

A device that records your running data is recommended.

A watch or device that records biometric data such as heart rate and pace is recommended. A chest strap heart rate monitor is preferred for more reliable heart rate data.

The better the data, the easier it is to monitor training response and make informed coaching decisions.
