Efficiency Testing
Efficiency Testing.
Measure how your bike position affects the amount of oxygen required to produce a given power output.
Exercise Institute combines 3D motion-capture bike fitting with metabolic testing to bring objective measurement to a process that has traditionally relied heavily on observation and rider feedback. The aim is to find a position that supports comfort, movement quality and sustainable performance.
Measure more than position.
Understand your movement.
Begin with a functional assessment and 3D analysis of how your body moves on the bike, rather than applying a generic set of fitting measurements.
Quantify metabolic cost.
Measure oxygen consumption at a controlled power output before and after your position is adjusted to determine how the fit affects your physiological efficiency.
Balance data and feedback.
Combine objective efficiency data with your comfort, symptoms and riding feedback to develop a position that is both measurable and practical.
Test the cost of your position.
A bike position can look technically sound while still requiring more physiological effort than necessary. Efficiency testing adds a metabolic measurement to the 3D bike-fitting process so changes can be assessed against the oxygen required to maintain a set power output.
After your functional assessment, we record a baseline measure of oxygen consumption at a controlled workload. Your position is then adjusted using the assessment findings and 3D motion-capture data before oxygen consumption is measured again.
- Complete a rider-specific functional assessment.
- Establish baseline oxygen consumption at a controlled power.
- Adjust your position using 3D motion-capture feedback.
- Repeat the metabolic measurement after the fit.
- Refine the position using your feedback and the collected data.

Pricing.
Includes up to 2.5 hours of 3D bike fitting and efficiency testing, including functional assessment, baseline metabolic measurement, positional adjustment and post-fit measurement.
Fitting that extends beyond the included 2.5 hours because of bike design, component complexity or additional adjustment requirements is charged at an additional hourly rate.
