Jen Davis: Kalgoorlie Menzies Cyclassic

A brief synopsis of Jen’s race at the famed Kalgoorlie Cyclassic

“Menzies Classic (Goldfields Cyclassic Day 1).

What a wet and cold day in the Goldfields! 50% chance of rain materialised as rain all the way through the race. Myself, Sabine and Bri worked hard rolling turns in D grade to try to keep the grades chasing us down away for as long as possible.

In the end we were caught by a group of A, B and C grade riders about 8k from the finish. Myself and a couple of other D grade riders managed to jump on as they went past, and (thanks in no small part to a fantastic lead out from Otoc rider Andrew Patterson!) I finished 2nd woman across the line (behind Bec Mackay) and sprinted my way to 3rd in D grade and 29th overall.”

Well done to all our other athletes riding the race, particularly Henry Pennell, claiming 3rd. Very happy to have over 12 clients present, with over half giving the event a go for the first time ever!

Happy campers prior the start of the wet and wild stage 1.
